Well this week I have spent most of my time keeping my WordPress plugins updated and learning the new features of version 2.8. It seems like there is a new update for one or two of my plugins everyday.

I really like the new features in version 2.8. My favorite is the way widgets are handled now. It is a lot better than the previous versions.

Another thing that I have learned is that now WordPress has an index file in the wp-content, plugins, and themes folders. So now a person can’t just list your plugins or themes as they could in earlier versions. I believe version 2.7.1 only had it in the wp-content folder.

Well I have upgraded all my blogs to the new version of WordPress…Version 2.8.

I really like the new features, particularly the way it handles Widgets. That is much better than the previous versions. You now can see all the Sidebars at the same time and just drag and drop to whichever sidebar you want. Another good feature is the ability to drag and drop an old widget to the inactive widgets pane so you can save it in case you want to go back to it later.

Well, I have been pretty busy this week trying some new plugins for WordPress.

I have started using Jeff Johnson’s “Free Traffic-Getting SEO Plugin” to optimize my blogs for the search engines. I just started so I can’t give you any results as far as traffic increases yet, but I will let you know how well it works in the weeks ahead.

I am using the the free version which does a pretty good job. You can get it here. The best I have been able to do with it is 77.4% optimized. But that is good considering most of my blogs were around 25% before I installed the plugin.
