Folks, I apologize for not posting in a while. I have had major computer problems and was unable to do anything for several days. That got me behind with all my work.

I am about to get back to normal, so I hope I can be posting more often now.

Well this week I have spent most of my time keeping my WordPress plugins updated and learning the new features of version 2.8. It seems like there is a new update for one or two of my plugins everyday.

I really like the new features in version 2.8. My favorite is the way widgets are handled now. It is a lot better than the previous versions.

Another thing that I have learned is that now WordPress has an index file in the wp-content, plugins, and themes folders. So now a person can’t just list your plugins or themes as they could in earlier versions. I believe version 2.7.1 only had it in the wp-content folder.

I am sure as time goes on I will learn more about this new version and will keep you up date as I do.

Well I am sure that you have noticed I am using a different theme. I just could not believe the flexibility of the theme, but I guess I should have since the name of it is “Flexibility”.

This new theme is by Ryan Grabenstein and he really did name it right. You can customize everything about this theme. As I said, I didn’t think there was that many thing to change.

Flexibility is an extremely customizable theme for WordPress. Control your blog width, sidebar widths and configuration, blog colors, graphics, background images and so much more. Well not a lot new for this past week. I have been reading and researching a lot about blog hackers this past week. I didn’t know about some of the ways they can get into your blog.

I also thought that you would know if your blog had been hacked. But that is not necessarily true. Sometimes they just get in and add a lot of keywords and such to your footer or other parts of your blog and you never know it unless you have some means of detecting their presence. I have bought some software to make my blogs less prone to hacker getting in. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I will in the next few days.

In my research I found some very good tips and some blogs and post with good tips.

Well, another week has come and gone. Man I tell you they sure do go by fast. I was trying to figure out what I was going to do for the weekend and then realized the weekend had already passed.

I guess I have just got to get my brain to move as fast as time and that way I can keep up.

This past week has been another one of trying to keep up with all the WordPress plugin updates. There is one or two of the plugins that I use that seems to get an update every other day. I hope they get it like they want it and stop updating so often. I know updates are good. It means that the author is trying to keep making the plugin better and that is good. But when you have several blogs, it can take a while to get them all updated and that is bad.

One thing I did do to check it out and see if it is something that I might like on some of my blogs was go to Odiogo and add audio to my post. But not just any kind of audio. This program will read your post to your visitor if they don’t want to sit there and read it themselves. They also can download it to their MP3 player or other audio devices.

You do need to make sure that RSS full text option on WordPress 2.0 is activated? I think this is the default setting so it probably is alright. But you should check to be sure.

Follow the instructions below:

1. Login to your WordPress admin account

2. Click Setting > Options > Reading

3. Under For each article in a feed, select Full text

4. Click Update Options

I can’t believe I completely forgot to write an update last week. I didn’t even realize it until I started to write this one. I am sorry about that. i will try not to let it happen again.

I have been very busy trying to get all my different blogs and websites updated with the latest versions of the plugins and also trying to get some new ads on my blogs.

I don’t have a lot to report this week.

The Republican Convention is over and I was pleased with the outcome. I don’t get too involved with politics, but I do try to keep up with what is going on. I think we all should do that. I also think it is everyone’s obligation to vote. It is a privilege we in America have that many people in this world don’t have. To many people think it is a waste of time and just don’t want to bother with it. But, if too many people do that then we will lose that privilege and then we will all be sorry we didn’t do our part.

I have posted a video below of the response of another Georgia boy that I have admired for a long time. I really do get mad sometimes at the way the main stream media tries to manipulate the news instead of just reporting it.

Well that is enough of the soapbox. Time to get back to the job at hand. I understand there is a new version of WordPress that will be available in the next day or two. Version 2.6.2. I will report on it next week. Until then, have a great week and make some money.
