WordPress Version 2.7
Well I have upgraded all my blogs to the new WordPress Version 2.7. Everything when off without a hitch. I had absolutely no problems what so ever with the upgrade. I did use the “InstantUpgrade” plugin, which I had been using for serveral months. I only had one plugin that was not compatible “Simple Tags”, and the software told me about it and I just simply deleted it. I didn’t really use it much any way.
I really do like the layout of the new version so far. It seems easier to navigate and is very user friendly. Plus there have been quite a few new features added. I am sure I have not found all of them yet, but the ones I have found I like.
Of course two of the new features are the “version upgrade” and “plugin upgrade” that I used to do with plugins are now build into the core of WordPress, so you no longer need the plugins. Under the Plugins Tab on the left you will find a new selection “Add New”. This will allow you to download a plugin directly from the WordPress.org Plugin Directory or you can upload a zip file from your computer. The plugin will be installed automatically. The option to upgrade WordPress is found under the Tools Tab. There you have a selection called appropriately “Upgrade”. You will have a choice of using FTP or HTTP. I have been using the HTTP mode with no trouble, but you do have to have all the permissions set right on the files and folders
Another nice feature is the ability to completely customize the dashboard. There is a screen option tab at the top left that will allow you to select what you want to show on the Dashboard.
Well I guess that is about all for now, but as I learn more I will post it here.
Have a Good Week!
